Supported upgrade environments

When you upgrade to the latest version of
BlackBerry UEM
, you upgrade the management console and the database.
The following are the supported upgrade paths:
  • You can use the setup application to upgrade from up to two previous versions of
    UEM
. For example, if you have
    UEM
version 12.16, and you want to upgrade to the latest version, you must first upgrade all instances to
    UEM
version 12.18, then upgrade all instances to
    UEM
version 12.20, and continue upgrading in this way until you reach the latest version. As you follow this upgrade path, only the major release version matters (for example, 12.
    18
    .x, 12.
    20
.x); you can upgrade up through maintenance release (MR) or quick fix (QF) versions, as long as you meet the major version requirement.
  • When you complete the upgrade path, use the latest available version of
    UEM
, including the latest MR or QF release, if available.
  • You can install
    UEM
and migrate policy sets, connectivity profiles, app groups, and app usage (for certificates).
If you are upgrading an environment that has activated
BlackBerry Dynamics
applications on devices, connections to the application servers, including the mail server, will continue to supported. For example,
BlackBerry Work
will continue to receive email during the upgrade.
BlackBerry Dynamics
applications cannot be activated during the upgrade. All servers in the environment must be upgraded before any
BlackBerry Dynamics
applications can be activated. Upgrade all servers in the environment within 24 hours of the first server upgrade.
