CylanceV operating modes
CylanceV
operating modesUsing
CylanceV
requires a license key. There are two types of license keys: online and offline.Item | Description |
---|---|
Online | This license key requires an Internet connection so CylanceV can validate the license. Once the online license key has been validated, the Internet connection is no longer needed so long as the system is not shutdown or restarted. An Internet connection is required to revalidate the license if the CylanceV executable is stopped and then restarted or the device running CylanceV is turned off and then back on. An authorization failed message displays when launching the CylanceV executable if it cannot connect to the Internet and validate the license. To resolve this issue, ensure the device can connect to the Internet and then re-launch the CylanceV executable |
Offline | This license key does not require an Internet connection for validating the license. In offline mode, CylanceV can use a local model (DSC file) to run threat analysis. This allows CylanceV to be used completely offline. Offline license keys will expire on a set date. After this date, a new offline license key is required.
For version 2.9, the offline license keys will expire on December 31, 2024. If you are using a previous version of CylanceV as of December 31, 2022, you will receive a notification that your license has expired and the CylanceV agent will not run. For more information, see KB 66137. |
CylanceV
does not require a fixed IP address. If the local model is not used, then CylanceV
will require an Internet connection to use the Cylance
cloud model. Using the cloud model requires either HTTP over port 80 or HTTPS over port 443. The DNS name for the Cylance
cloud model is api2.cylance.com.
It is highly recommended to allow HTTPS traffic to the
Cylance
domain or to *.cylance.com over port 443. Contact support with any questions.
