- When you extract the setup files, ensure that they are not saved to theUEMsoftware installation directory (by default, C:\Program Files\BlackBerry\UEM). During an upgrade, the setup application removes the contents of theUEMsoftware directory, including its own installation files.
- It is a best practice to take a manual backup of theUEMdatabase before you upgrade in case the account that you use for database authentication does not have enough permissions to perform a database backup.
- If you are upgrading your environment in stages, test your environment after each stage of the upgrade to make sure everything is working as expected. If it is not, resolve any issues before proceeding to the next stage of the upgrade.
- After you run theUEMsetup application, it may display a warning that a restart is required. Restart the computer to ensure that the software is updated.
- Log in to the computer using the service account that runs theUEMservices.
- Copy theUEM.zip file to the computer and extract the contents to a folder.Do not copy used installation files from another computer. You must re-extract the installation files on each computer.
- In the extracted folder, double-clicksetup.exe.If aWindowsmessage appears and requests permission for setup.exe to make changes to the computer, clickYes.
- In theLanguage selectiondialog box, select your language.
- ClickOK.
- ClickNext.
- In theLicense agreementdialog box, perform the following actions:
- Select your country or region.
- Read and accept the license agreement.
- ClickNext.
- In theInstallation requirementsdialog box, verify that computer has met the requirements to installUEM. ClickNext.The setup application may display a warning that indicates thatMicrosoft .NET Framework4.8 is not installed. You can ignore this warning and proceed with the installation. The setup application will automatically installMicrosoft .NET Framework4.8 if it is not detected on the computer. If a later version ofMicrosoft .NET Frameworkis already installed, theUEMsetup application does not installMicrosoft .NET Framework4.8.
- In theService accountdialog box, type theWindowspassword and clickNext.
- In theInstallation summarydialog box, clickInstall.
