Mail
service cluster, including Mail
and Enterprise Services, but not Presence
. Before you add a
Mail
instance for disaster recovery, complete the following actions:
- Configure database replication for theMaildatabase (BEMS-Core) from your primary site to your secondary site. SQL log shipping is recommended. Consult your database administrator for assistance.
- Make sure that the appropriate network ports are open to allow theMailservice instance within your secondary site to communicate with the database,Microsoft Exchange Server,Microsoft Exchange Online, andBlackBerry Proxyservers in your secondary and primary site.
- InstallBEMSon each server that will host theMailservice at the primary site. Select theMailoption in each case. Use the same database for all the servers in this cluster.
- InstallBEMSon each server that will host theMailservice at the secondary site. Select theMailoption in each case. Add the servers to the same database that you used in step 1.
- At the primary site, in theBEMSdashboard (BEMSSystem Settings >BEMSConfiguration >BlackBerry Dynamics), configure one or moreBlackBerry Proxyservers from one or more clusters from the primary site. This list is used only for startup. Make sure that you clear the 'Apply to other nodes in this BEMS cluster' check box. Repeat this step for eachBEMSinstance in the primary site.
- At the secondary site, in theBEMSdashboard (BEMSSystem Settings >BEMS>BlackBerry Dynamics), configure one or moreBlackBerry Proxyservers from one or more clusters from the secondary site. This list is used only for startup. Make sure that you clear the 'Apply to other nodes in this BEMS cluster' check box. Repeat this step for eachBEMSinstance in the secondary site.
- Configure the appropriate mail server and active directory settings and test them from both sites.
- Stop the services on the servers at the secondary site to prevent the disaster recovery nodes from contributing to normal cluster operations (for example, push notifications for mail).
- In theBlackBerry UEMmanagement console, in theBlackBerry Dynamicsconnectivity profiles that are assigned to users, do the following. Depending on your environment configuration, additional server-side services might be required. For more information aboutBEMSservices and server-side bindings, see the Additional information.
- UnderApp servers for BlackBerry Core and Mail Services, for each of theBEMSinstances at the primary site, set thePriorityto PRIMARY and set thePrimary BlackBerry Proxy clusterto BPCluster1.
- UnderApp servers for BlackBerry Core and Mail Services, for each of theBEMSinstances at the secondary site, set thePriorityto SECONDARY or TERTIARY and set thePrimary BlackBerry Proxy clusterto BPCluster2.
