Turn on notifications

You can set up the
DTEK by BlackBerry
app to notify you when an app accesses features or important personal info on your device. You can receive notifications for foreground (when you're using the app), in the background (when the app is open but running in the background), or both.
  1. On the main screen, tap the settings icon >
    Notifications
    .
  2. Tap the
    Default notifications
    drop-down list.
  3. Do any of the following:
    • To receive notifications when any app you're using accesses your information, tap
      Foreground
      .
    • To receive notifications when any app that's running in the background accesses your information, tap
      Background
      .
    • To receive notifications when any app accesses your information at any time, tap
      Both
      .
    • To turn off all notifications, tap
      Off
      .
This setting applies only to new apps that you install. If you want to apply this setting to all existing apps, in the pop-up window, tap

Turn on notifications for a specific app

If you don't want to receive notifications for every app that accesses your information, you can choose to receive notifications only from specific apps when they access your information. You can receive notifications when a specific app is accessing information in the foreground (when you're using the app), in the background (when the app is open but running in the background), or both.
  1. On the main screen, tap the settings icon >
    Notifications
    .
  2. Tap
    Customize app notifications
    .
  3. Tap an app.
  4. At the top of the screen, tap the drop-down list.
  5. Do any the following:
    • To receive notifications when the app accesses information when you're using it, tap
      Foreground
      .
    • To receive notifications when the app accesses information when it's running in the background, tap
      Background
      .
    • To receive notifications when the app accesses your information at any time, tap
      Both
      .
    • To turn off notifications when the specific app accesses information, tap
      Off
      .
To receive notifications only when specific types of information are accessed by an app, repeat steps 1-3. Beside a type of information, tap the drop-down list and select an option.

Turn on sensitive permission notifications

If you consider some permissions to be more sensitive than others, you can set them as sensitive permissions. When apps access these permissions in the background, you can receive a notification.
  1. On the main screen, tap the settings icon >
    Notifications
    .
  2. Turn on the
    Sensitive permission access
    switch.

Turn on sensitive permission notifications for a specific app

You can select which apps you want to monitor for sensitive permission access. If you do not want to receive notifications when certain apps access your sensitive info, you can turn off these notifications.
  1. On the home screen, tap
    Applications
    .
  2. Tap an app.
  3. Tap the
    Sensitive permissions
    drop-down list.
    • To receive notifications, select
      ON
      .
    • To turn off notifications, select
      OFF
      .

Receive priority notifications only

You can choose to receive notifications only when a sensitive permission is accessed, or when
DTEK
completes a scan of your device.
  1. On the main screen, tap the settings icon >
    Notifications
    .
  2. Turn on the
    Receive priority notifications only
    switch.
