Edit a user attribute

User attributes that are created prior to the deployment of the organization cannot be edited within the organization. If editing user attributes on System Setup, do not modify the common name.
  1. In the navigation bar, click
    Users
    >
    User Attributes
    .
  2. On the
    User Attributes
    screen, click the user attribute you want to edit.
    You can search by attribute name to filter the list of attributes. You can also display only the attributes that are defined within the organization to filter out inherited super enterprise, enterprise, and system attributes.
  3. Update the
    Basic
    ,
    Values
    ,
    Page Layout
    ,
    Bulk Update Values
    and
    Personnel Reports
    sections.
    The
    Info
    section cannot be edited. It lists the name of the user who created the attribute, the date it was created, the last user to update the attribute, and the last date the attribute was updated.
  4. Optionally, to reorder the values in an attribute with a large number of values, the best practice is to export the values to a CSV file, update the order, and then import the updated CSV file:
    1. In the
      Values
      section, click
      Export to CSV
      .
    2. Open, modify, and save the CSV file.
    3. Click
      Import Values
      .
    4. On the
      Import Values to New Attribute
      dialog, click
      Browse
      to navigate to and select the updated CSV file.
    5. Select the
      When checked, all existing values will be replaced with the values in the CSV file
      option.
    6. Click
      Import
      .
    This option is available only for attribute types that support the import and export of values such as Status, Single-select Picklist, Multi-select Picklist, and Geo-aware-Single-select Picklist attributes.
  5. Click
    Save
    .
