Activate your Android device

deviceYour device is ready to be activated when you receive an activation email from your administrator.
The activation email includes the information that you need to activate your device. If you need a new activation email or your activation password has already expired, create a password in
BlackBerry UEM Self-Service
or contact your administrator. If you received an activation
QR Code
from your administrator, you can use it to activate your device. When you activate a device with a QR Code
, you don't need to type any information.If you received instructions from your administrator about using your enterprise credentials, you are redirected to your organization's sign-in page to activate the device.
To activate the device, you must allow the
UEM Client
to access the phone on your device. - On the device, install theBlackBerry UEM ClientfromGoogle Play. IfUEM Clientwas installed as part of a device data transfer (for example, back up and restore to a new device), reinstall it and proceed with a new activation.
- Open theUEM Client.
- Read and accept the license agreement.
- Do one of the following:TaskStepsUse aQR Codeto activate the device
- TapScan QR Code.
- TapAllowto allow theUEM Clientto take pictures and record video.
- Scan theQR Codein the activation email.
Manually activate the device- TapEnter credentials provided in your activation email.
- Type your work email address. This is the email address where you received the activation email. TapNext.
- If necessary, type the server address found in your activation email and tapNext.
- If necessary, type your username.
- Type your activation password and tap Activate My Device. If your activation password is expired, create a new password inBlackBerry UEM Self-Serviceor contact your administrator.
- TapAllowto allow theUEM Clientto make and manage phone calls.
- Wait while the profiles and settings are pushed to your device.
- On theSet up your profilescreen, tapSet upand wait while a work profile is set up on the device.
- If you are prompted, log in to yourGoogleaccount with yourGoogleemail address and password. If you do not have aGoogleaccount, you can create one at this point.
- On the unlock selection screen, choose a screen unlock method.
- If you are prompted with theSecure start-upscreen, tapYesto require a password when the device starts.
- Type a device password, and type it again to confirm it. TapOK.
- Select one of the options for how you want your notifications to show. TapDone.
- Create aUEM Clientpassword and tapOK. If you are usingBlackBerry Dynamicsapps, you will also use this password to sign in to all of yourBlackBerry Dynamicsapps.
- On the next screen, tapEnrolland follow the on-screen prompts if you want to set up fingerprint authentication for the UEM Client and any BlackBerry Dynamics apps that you have. Otherwise, tapCancel.
- If you are signed out of your device, unlock your device to complete theBlackBerry UEMactivation.
- If prompted, tapOKto allow the connection toBlackBerry Secure Connect Plusand wait while the connection is turned on.
- Optionally, if your administrator has set upMicrosoft Azureconditional access, do one of the following:TaskStepsInstall theMicrosoftAuthenticator app on your device, and sign intoMicrosoft Azure
- On theMicrosoftOnline Device registration screen, tapContinue.
- Sign in with yourMicrosoft Azurecredentials.
- On theHelp us keep your device securescreen, you must download theMicrosoftAuthenticator app. TapGet the app.
- In the app store, tapInstall.
- When prompted to allow diagnostics collection, tapOK.
- Sign in with yourMicrosoft Azurecredentials.
- TapRegister.
Sign intoMicrosoft Azure- On theMicrosoftOnline Device registration screen, tapContinue.
- Tap on your account.
- Sign in with yourMicrosoft Azurecredentials.
- On theHelp us keep your device securescreen, tapRegister.
- TapOpento view theUEM Clientcompliance screen.
- If you are prompted, follow the instructions on the screen to install work apps on your device.
To verify that the activation process completed successfully, perform one of the following actions:
- In theUEM Client, tap >About. In theActivated Devicesection, verify that the device information and the activation time stamp are present.
- In theBlackBerry UEM Self-Serviceconsole, verify that your device is listed as an activated device. It can take up to two minutes for the status to update after you activate the device.
