Storage requirements

The BlackBerry Workspaces Server requires two separate storage devices: one for the system database and one for user-uploaded files. Use dedicated storage devices that support tuning, performance, redundancy, and backup capabilities to optimal system performance and data protection.

Use a third dedicated disk for file caching. This expands cache capacity beyond the operating system default, improving system performance.

The following table lists the minimum storage requirements for the BlackBerry Workspaces Server:

Table 1. Storage requirements

Storage type

Minimum size

Supported formats

Mount point

Database

100 GB

  • SAN (Storage Area Network)
  • DAS (Direct Attached Storage)

On the Master-Main or both Main servers:

/mnt/database/

File space

500 GB

  • SAN
  • NAS (Network Attached Storage)
  • DAS
  • Object-Storage

On the Master-Main or Main1 server:

/opt/watchdox/storage/filespace

Cache

25 GB

  • SAN
  • DAS

On the Master-Main or both Main servers:

/opt/watchdox/storage/fs_cache/
Note: When you use remote NFS, all exports on it should be configured as follows:

<MOUNT_POINT> <IP_OF_MAIN>(rw,sync,nohide,anonuid=770,anongid=770,no_root_squash)

For example: /opt/watchdox/storage/filespace <192.168.1.1>(rw,sync,nohide,anonuid=770,anongid=770, no_root_squash)
