Layer authentication settings

The Layer Authentication Settings section of the Map Settings screen enables you to add private external ArcGIS layers. If an external private layer fails to load due to a client secret rotation or any other client‑credential modification, the system indicates this through a symbol displayed next to the layer name. In such cases, the operator must contact their private‑layer setup team to identify the root cause and reconfigure the private layer with the correct authentication settings.

Note: Data for private external layers are obtained from the layer source. BlackBerry AtHoc does not modify or verify the accuracy of this data. If there is no source data for a selected external layer, no data appears on the live map. Go to the data source to verify that the feed has data.
  1. On the Map Settings screen, in the Layer Authentication Settings section, click Add Authentication Settings.
  2. On the Add Authentication Settings dialog, in the Name field, enter a name for the external layer. The name must be unique.
  3. In the URL field, enter a URL for the private external layer.
  4. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret.
  5. Click Save. You are returned to the Map Settings screen. Your private ArcGIS layer is now available to select when adding an external layer.
  6. Add and configure the private external layer in the External Layers section.
