What's new in BlackBerry® AtHoc® mobile app 4.18.x
What's new in this release?
Each release consists of new and enhanced features and resolved and known issues for the BlackBerry® AtHoc® mobile app for iOS and Android.
4.18.4 – October 2026
- Custom severity alert tones: The mobile app now plays the custom alert tone configured in BlackBerry AtHoc for each alert severity level. Previously, the app played only the built-in Siren tone for High Severity alerts and the built-in Chimes tone for all other severities (Moderate, Low, Informational, and Unknown), regardless of any custom tones configured.
- Field report type search: When submitting a field report, users can now search the report type list to quickly find a specific type, instead of scrolling through the full list.
- Improved location address accuracy in exports: The way physical addresses are captured and recorded for user location data across the mobile app was improved.
Location records now include a human-readable street address alongside standard GPS coordinates. As a result, the Last Known Location (Physical Address) column in BlackBerry AtHoc exports will display a proper street address — such as 123 Main Street, Springfield — rather than raw latitude and longitude values.
This improvement applies to the following features:- Check-in and Check-out
- Emergency
- Field report
- Alert/event response
- OS Support: Support for Android 16 was added.
4.18.3 – August 2026
- Alert publishing: Operators with alert publishing permissions can create and publish new alerts from the mobile app, in addition to publishing from templates.
- Live location updates (iOS): On iOS 18 and later, Track Me and scheduled location access use live location updates to capture smaller movements in foreground and background, improving location accuracy on the live map.
4.18.2 – June 2026
- Attachment management when publishing an alert: Mobile app users can now add, replace, and remove file attachments when publishing an alert from a template. Attachments can be sourced from the device gallery, file picker, or captured directly with the camera. The feature enforces system limits, including a maximum of five attachments, a per-file size limit of 5 MB, and supported file format validation. Attachment changes are reflected across both the Content and Review & Publish screens throughout the alert publishing flow.
- Dynamic home screen title and message: Administrators can configure a home screen title and welcome message in the BlackBerry AtHoc management system at: Settings > Mobile App Settings > Customized Content. This content is now displayed dynamically when there are no alerts on the home screen.
- Improved media attachment picker: The media attachment picker has been updated to provide a more intuitive and consistent experience across Emergency, Reports, and Alerts features on both Android and iOS. Enhancements include:
- Unified picker UI: A single, consistent attachment picker now presents Photo, Video, and Camera options in one place, making it easier to find and attach the media you need.
- Camera sub-option: After selecting Photo or Video, you can capture new media directly via your device camera without leaving the flow.
- Clearer file limitations: File type restrictions, size limits, and maximum file counts are now displayed upfront within the picker, so you know what's allowed before making a selection.
- Consistent behavior across devices: The picker now works the same way on Android and iOS, eliminating unexpected deselection or blocked selections when switching between media types.
- Map-based location pinning for alert publishing: Users can now add, edit, and remove location pins directly on the map when publishing alerts, making it easier to define exactly where an alert applies. The map also displays the estimated number of users within each alert zone, helping you understand the reach of your message before sending it.
- Organization logos: The mobile app now displays the full logo of the primary organization on the home screen. A logo mark is now displayed on alerts and on the Settings screen. Both full logos and log marks can be displayed in both light or dark-themes.
- Send Admin log improvement (iOS): When sending admin logs from the Settings screen, you can select your preferred email app or Microsoft Teams instead of being limited to the default mail client.
4.18.1 – May 2026
- Alert response comments: Users can now add comments (up to 300 characters) when responding to alerts on the mobile app. Operators can enable or disable this feature at the template and individual response level, with customizable prompts up to 100 characters. The alert summary displays a Comments column showing the number of comments per response option. The Users tab includes an expandable Comments column for viewing full comments. Advanced reports feature new User Comments columns for easy tracking across all alert reports, with export capability to CSV. Template inheritance and bilingual support with automatic prompt translation are included.
