Detecting Malware on Android Devices

9 simple steps to protect devices from malware

1. Create a BlackBerry Protect profile

Click Policies and profiles > Protection > BlackBerry Protect > +.

2. Turn on malware detection

On the Android tab, select the Scan new and existing app packages from device for safety check check box.

3. Choose whether to scan system apps

If you want to scan apps that are preinstalled in the system partition on Android devices, select the Scan system apps check box.

4. Save and assign the profile to users or groups

5. Create a compliance profile

You use a compliance profile to choose the actions that you want UEM to take when a sideloaded app is detected on a user's device.

Click Policies and profiles > Compliance > Compliance > +.

6. Turn on compliance for malware detection

Select the Malcious app package detected check box. Configure how, and how often, you want to let the user know that malware has been detected.

7. Choose an enforcement action for devices

Choose an action:

  • Monitor and log will log information without taking a compliance action.
  • Untrust will block access to work resources and apps until the malicious app is removed.

8. Choose an enforcement action for Blackberry Dynamics apps

Choose an action:

  • Do not allow BlackBerry Dynamics apps to run will block BlackBerry Dynamics apps until the malicious app is removed.
  • Monitor and log will log information without taking a compliance action.

9. Save the profile and assign it to users or groups

That’s it! Malware detection and compliance are now enabled for Android devices.
