Upgrading from BES5 to BlackBerry UEM
To upgrade from
BlackBerry UEMversion 12.9, you must first upgrade
BES12version 12.5, then to
BlackBerry UEMversion 12.7.
You can use the
BlackBerry UEMmanagement console to manage all your domain users, groups, apps, policies, profiles,
BlackBerryOS (version 5.0 to 7.1),
Windowsdevices. However, you must use the
BlackBerry Administration Serviceto configure VPN profiles,
Wi-Fiprofiles, and software updates for
BlackBerryOS (version 5.0 to 7.1) devices.
- After the upgrade, distributedBES5components remain in place and continue to perform the same functions for theBlackBerryOS devices as they did before the upgrade.
- If you installBES12on the same computer as theBES5BlackBerry Administration Servicecomponent, theBlackBerry Administration Servicemay not be accessible. For more information, visit http://support.blackberry.com/kb to read article KB37180.
BlackBerry Routerthat you originally installed with your
BES5continues to work only for the components that are used to manage
BlackBerryOS devices. If you install a new instance of the
BES12, you can configure it to work with all components.
After an upgrade from
BES12, you cannot roll back to the
BES5database. Before you begin an upgrade, back up the
BES12setup application backs up the database by default.
You can use a
BES12migration kit to move users from one computer that has an initial
BES5instance to another computer that has a second
BES5instance. You can upgrade this second
BES12and then move the IT policies, profiles, users, and devices in increments to the
BES12migration kit allows you to install a second
BES5instance on another computer using the following:
- BES5software with setup application
- One user CAL
You must move
BES5users with the
BES12Migration Kit to
BES12before you upgrade
