Prerequisites: BlackBerry Workspaces

Item

Requirement

FQDN

Identify the domain name and provide the appropriate authorization certificates. Provide your preferred FQDN (for example, workspaces.mycompany.com). This FQDN is embedded in the BlackBerry Workspaces Server and serves as the host name of all URLs used to access BlackBerry Workspaces services.

SSL Certificates

Obtain certificates that correspond to the domain where you install the BlackBerry Workspaces Server. The certificates must be signed by a verified certificate authority (CA).

SMTP server

Specify an SMTP server for the BlackBerry Workspaces Server to send emails.

NTP server

The BlackBerry Workspaces Server installation requires precise timing synchronization across your deployment. You can configure the BlackBerry Workspaces Server to use both IP address and host name formats. For more information on how to confirm that NTP is working as expected on the servers, see KB 62852.

Yum and Python package repositories

Configure the BlackBerry Workspaces Server to connect to a Yum repository and a Python pip repository for package installation. You must allow outbound connections to the following Yum and pip repositories over TCP 443 to maintain updates:
  • cdn.redhat.com
  • dl.fedoraproject.org
  • pypi.org

Optionally, you can use Red Hat Satellite Server instead of the Red Hat Yum repository.

Third-party licensing

The BlackBerry Workspaces Server installation requires the following software and associated licenses to be activated on each of the appropriate machines:
  • Windows products: Windows Server 2019, 2022, or 2025. One license for each Windows Server instance.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.x: One Red Hat license per Red Hat Linux instance.

DNS

The BlackBerry Workspaces Server requires DNS services to resolve host names, such as mail servers and NTP servers.
