Updated file type icons

This release of BlackBerry Workspaces Server displays updated file type icons for all supported file formats.

PDF conversion enhancements

  • This release of BlackBerry Workspaces Server integrates LibreOffice and removes the previous dependency on Microsoft Office.
  • The conversion server has been renamed to Windows Secure Documents to match its new functions: secure Microsoft Office files for protected viewing and transmission of files for Office Online editing.

Java 17 support

Apache Tomcat server 11 support

This release of BlackBerry Workspaces Server supports Apache Tomcat Server 11.

Changes to content connectors

  • Dropbox: The Dropbox content connector was deprecated on January 1, 2026. The existing connections to Dropbox repositories may become inaccessible through Workspaces, and new connections cannot be added. The Dropbox option will be removed from the administration console in a future release.
  • Alfresco: The Alfresco content connector will be deprecated in a future BlackBerry Workspaces Server release.

Self-signed internal SSL certificates

BlackBerry Workspaces Server now uses BlackBerry self-signed internal SSL certificates, replacing the previously used DigiCert-signed certificates. By using self-signed SSL certificates, BlackBerry Workspaces extends the certificate expiration date to 20 years and eliminates the need for annual certificate renewals and their associated costs.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux support

BlackBerry Workspaces Server 12 now requires Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 to help ensure that you can receive the latest OS security updates. Other OS versions are currently not supported. Note that BlackBerry Workspaces Server 11, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 will reach its maintenance support end date on June 30, 2024, after which the Extended Life phase for the OS starts. If you want limited support during this phase, consider subscribing to the Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) Add-on for RHEL.
