Add an internal macOS app to the app list

You can add an internal macOS app to the app list so that you can assign it to UEM users and groups. Internal apps are installed on macOS devices as work apps.
  • Prepare the internal macOS app in a PKG file. The PKG file must contain the files for a single app. Verify that the app files contain a defined app title and app package ID.
  • Store the PKG file at a secure URL that BlackBerry UEM can access.
  1. In the management console, on the menu bar, click Apps.
  2. Click Add an app icon..
  3. Click macOS PKG.
  4. In the PKG URL field, type the URL where the PKG file is hosted.
  5. Optionally, in the PKG SHA-256 hash field, type the SHA-256 hash of the PKG file.
When the app is installed on a device, UEM compares the SHA-256 value of the PKG file with the value stored on the server. If the values do not match, the app is not installed.
  6. UEM requires the title and app package ID for the app, and optionally, the version and vendor values. Do one of the following:
    1. If you want UEM to read the values from the PKG file, click Verify.
    2. If you want to specify the values manually, select the Enter Manually check box and type the values.
  7. Click Add.
  • Assign the internal macOS app to users and groups. You can set the disposition to required (installed automatically) or optional (the app is displayed in the catalog of available work apps and the user can choose to install it). The app is installed on devices as a work app.
  • When you have an updated version of the app, you must add it to the app list as a new app and remove the old version of the app from the app list.
