Edit a user attribute
User attributes that are created prior to the deployment of the organization cannot be edited within the organization. If editing user attributes on System Setup, do not modify the common name.
- In the navigation bar, click Users > User Attributes.
- On the User Attributes screen, click the user attribute you want to edit.
Note: You can search by attribute name to filter the list of attributes. You can also display only the attributes that are defined within the organization to filter out inherited super enterprise, enterprise, and system attributes.
- Update the Basic, Values, Page Layout, Bulk Update Values and Personnel Reports sections.
Note: The Info section cannot be edited. It lists the name of the user who created the attribute, the date it was created, the last user to update the attribute, and the last date the attribute was updated.
- Optionally, to reorder the values in an attribute with a large number of values, the best practice is to export the values to a CSV file, update the order, and then import the updated CSV file:
- In the Values section, click Export to CSV.
- Open, modify, and save the CSV file.
- Click Import Values.
- On the Import Values to New Attribute dialog, click Browse to navigate to and select the updated CSV file.
- Select the When checked, all existing values will be replaced with the values in the CSV file option.
- Click Import.
Note: This option is available only for attribute types that support the import and export of values such as Status, Single-select Picklist, Multi-select Picklist, and Geo-aware-Single-select Picklist attributes. Up to 2000 values can be imported for a Geo-aware-Single-select Picklist attribute. - Click Save.
