Create a software update enforcement profile to update devices to a required OS version

You can use a software update enforcement profile to manage automatic OS updates to a required minimum version of iOS or macOS software. For more information about how certain settings in this profile interact with existing iOS IT policy rules, see Controlling how software updates are installed on devices.
  1. In the management console, on the menu bar, click Policies and profiles > Compliance > Software update enforcement.
  2. Click Add icon..
  3. Type a name and description for the profile.
  4. Select the applicable device types.
  5. Do the following on the iOS tab and/or macOS tab:
    1. In the Target OS version field, specify the OS version that you want to update devices to automatically. Visit https://gdmf.apple.com/v2/pmv and use the appropriate ProductVersion value.
    2. In the Target build version field, specify the build version for the automatic update. Visit https://gdmf.apple.com/v2/pmv and use the appropriate Build value.
    3. Click the Target local date and time field to select the date and time for the automatic OS update. Click Submit.
  6. Click Save.
Assign the profile to users and groups.
