Install a new BlackBerry UEM instance
- If you install UEM behind a firewall, it cannot connect to the BlackBerry Infrastructure until you configure the proxy server. UEM prompts you the first time you log in to the UEM management console.
- Installing UEM to a mapped network drive is not supported.
- You must perform a new extraction of the UEM software on every server that you are installing or upgrading UEM on. Do not copy already extracted UEM software from another server.
- If you want to use a group Managed Service Account (gMSA) to install UEM and run the UEM services, you must create and configure the gMSA and verify that it is available on the computer that you will install UEM on. For more information about creating and configuring a gMSA, see Windows Server: Get started with Group Managed Service Accounts.
- For high availability:
- You can install an additional BlackBerry UEM instance in the domain to create a high availability configuration that minimizes service interruptions for device users. For more information about high availability, see the Planning content.
- If you are using an FCI, use the Failover Cluster Manager tool to manage the FCI and failover settings.
- If you are using an availability group, use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to set up the primary replica and secondary replicas and to configure failover settings. Visit the MSDN Library to see Getting Started with AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Use the Availability Group Wizard (SQL Server Management Studio). Choose the option to create a full backup for the secondary databases and specify a shared network location that all replicas can access.
- If you want to configure UEM to use a proxy server, see the Configuration content.
- Do not create a shared folder within the installation folder after you install UEM. If you reinstall or upgrade UEM, all of the files and folders in the installation folder are deleted, including the shared folder.
- If an error message for RRAS appears in the Server Manager window, you can disregard it.
- Do not add any files to the folder that contains the UEM installation files (the default is C:\Program Files\BlackBerry\UEM). During an upgrade, the installer removes the contents of the UEM software directory, including its own installation files.
