Process flow: Sending content from the BlackBerry Pushcast Software to devices using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with BlackBerry MDS

  1. A BlackBerry® Pushcast™ author creates content in the BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft® PowerPoint® and assigns the content to one or more BlackBerry Pushcast Player users.
  2. The BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint or the BlackBerry Pushcast Consolesends the content to the BlackBerry Pushcast server using HTTPS over TCP port 443.
  3. The BlackBerry Pushcast server sends an instruction message for each email address of the assigned users to the messaging server using SMTP over TCP port 25.
  4. The BlackBerry® Enterprise Server with BlackBerry® Mobile Data System sends an encrypted email message over the wireless network to the BlackBerry Pushcast Player on the BlackBerry device using IPPP over TCP port 443. The email message contains instructions that devices use to start content delivery.
  5. The device reads the encrypted information in the email message that includes the content delivery instructions.
  6. The BlackBerry Pushcast Player requests the content from the BlackBerry Pushcast server using HTTPS over TCP port 443.
  7. The BlackBerry Pushcast server sends the content to the BlackBerry Pushcast Player on the device.
  8. The BlackBerry Pushcast Player stores the content to internal memory or a microSD card.
  9. The BlackBerry Pushcast Player reports to the BlackBerry Pushcast server that it received the content.
