Use a three-digit area code with parentheses "( )", dashes (-), or periods (.). The following are examples of three-digit area codes: Use a seven-digit number separated by a dash or period (for example, 555-0100 or 555.0100). Use an 11 to 13-digit number that is preceded by a plus sign (+) for international phone numbers that include a 1 to 3-digit country code, 3-digit area code, and 7-digit local phone number.
