Upgrade the BlackBerry Pushcast Software

Before you begin:
  • Verify that you have the following system information available:
    • The BlackBerry Pushcast Console web address, user name, and temporary password that you received in the email message from the RIM support team to complete this task.
    • For a one- or two-server installation, you must have the install directory name and data directory name that you specified when you installed the BlackBerry Pushcast Software.
    • For a three-server installation, you must have the install directory name, data directory name, remote server name, and remote server install directory location that you specified when you installed the BlackBerry Pushcast Software.
  • If you are upgrading from BlackBerry Pushcast Software 5.5, you must upgrade to BlackBerry Pushcast Software 5.6 before you can upgrade to BlackBerry Pushcast Software 5.7.
  1. In the email message that you received from the RIM support team, click the link for the BlackBerry Pushcast Console.
  2. In the Username field, type the user name that you received in the email message.
  3. In the Password field, type the temporary password that you received in the email message.
  4. Click Sign In.
  5. In the BlackBerry Pushcast Console, in the top pane, click Administration.
  6. In the left pane, click Downloads.
  7. Click the BlackBerry® Pushcast™ Software Install Package link.
  8. Save the BlackBerry.Pushcast.Software.Installer.exe file.
  9. Extract the BlackBerry.Pushcast.Software.Installer.exe file to a location on the computer.
  10. Click the BlackBerry.Pushcast.Software.Prequisites Package link.
  11. Save the BlackBerry.Pushcast.Software.Prequisites.zip file to a location on the computer.
  12. Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  13. In the Name column, right-click CB Support Services: Event Listener_MCDS and click Properties.
  14. In the Service status area, click Stop.
  15. In the Startup type list, click Disabled.
  16. Click OK.
  17. In the Name column, right-click Chalk Media Feed Manager Service_MCDS and click Properties.
  18. In the Service status area, click Stop.
  19. In the Startup type list, click Disabled.
  20. Click OK.
  21. In the Name column, right-click Chalk Media Initiator Service_MCDS and click Properties.
  22. In the Service status area, click Stop.
  23. In the Startup type list, click Disabled.
  24. Click OK.
  25. In the Name column, right-click Chalk Media Transcode Service_MCDS and click Properties.
  26. In the Service status area, click Stop.
  27. In the Startup type list, click Disabled.
  28. Click OK.
  29. Close the Services window.
  30. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, navigate to where you extracted the BlackBerry Pushcast Software installation files.
  31. Double-click the BlackBerry.Pushcast.Software.Installer.exe file.
  32. Click Yes.
  33. Click Next.
  34. In the Setup information section, click Next.
  35. In the Supporting Services section, click Next.
  36. In the BlackBerry Pushcast Software Certificate section, click Next.
  37. In the Database Details section, click Next.
  38. In the Reporting services section, click Next.
  39. In the BlackBerry Pushcast Software Passwords section, click Next.
  40. On the BlackBerry Pushcast Software System Verification screen, perform one of the following actions:

    If a check mark appears in the circle beside each software component in the list, upgrade the BlackBerry Pushcast Software.

    Click Finish.

    If an x appears beside a BlackBerry Pushcast Software component in the list, restart the required software component.

    1. Click Restart.
    2. Click Finish.
