Protecting content on media cards
You can encrypt data on BlackBerry® devices and on media cards to protect content and media files and to prevent unauthorized device users from accessing data files if a device is lost or stolen.
To protect the data that is stored on a media card, you can configure the External File System Encryption Level IT policy rule or BlackBerry device users can configure the corresponding option on a device. You or a user can choose encryption settings on the device to customize the level of encryption for files that are on a media card. If you or a user turned on encryption, the device encrypts only the content that it receives after you or a user turned on encryption. The content that the device received before you or a user turned on encryption remains unencrypted.
The BlackBerry Pushcast Software files that are stored on an encrypted media card are decrypted when a BlackBerry Pushcast Software user browses to the BlackBerry Pushcast Software folder on a BlackBerry device and sends one or more files in an email message from the BlackBerry device to another device.
