This section lists the known issues for the Chalk™ Pushcast™ Player.

DT859688

When a user opens the Chalk Pushcast Player for the first time on a BlackBerry device that uses the BlackBerry® Internet Service, the screen displays a message while the connection is established.

Impact: When users run the Chalk Pushcast Player for the first time, they experience a brief delay.

Workaround: None.

DT857722

If the Host Web address IT policy is not configured correctly for a Chalk Pushcast Software on premises installation, the Chalk Pushcast Player might not be able to connect to the server that hosts the Chalk Pushcast Software.

Impact: Users cannot access the Chalk Pushcast Player.

Workaround: Configure the Chalk Pushcast Player Host URL IT policy rule to use the URL of the server that hosts the Chalk Pushcast Software.

DT810265

When using BlackBerry devices paired with a Bluetooth® enabled device, if users play an audio file on the Chalk Pushcast Player, Bluetooth has to be manually turned on.

Impact: Users have to manually turn on Bluetooth on their devices to listen to an audio file.

Workaround: Manually turn on Bluetooth.

DT632958

On a BlackBerry® device that is running BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0 or later, if an administrator makes changes to an IT policy when users have the Chalk Pushcast Player open, the changes are implemented only when users close and then open the Chalk Pushcast Player again.

Impact: IT policy changes are not implemented when users have the Chalk Pushcast Player open.

Workaround: None.

DT596859

If a user presses the menu button when video is playing, the video stops and the audio continues to play.

Impact: When users are viewing video, if they press the menu key, they might not be able to view the video.

Workaround: On the BlackBerry device, close the video and then click the video icon to view it again.

DT498345

If users delete the Chalk Pushcast Player from the home screen of their devices, and try to reinstall the Chalk Pushcast Player, an error message "Chalkboard already exists on device" displays.

Impact: Deleting the Chalk Pushcast Player from the home screen does not delete it from the device. The error message to reinstall Chalk Pushcast Player displayed might confuse users.

Workaround: None.

DT462644

On a BlackBerry Storm smartphone, if encryption is turned on and content protection is set to the highest value, and if the device is rotated while playing a video, the audio and video might be unsynchronized and unclear.

Impact: Users might not be able to watch videos.

Workaround: On the BlackBerry device, turn encryption off and set content protection to a lower value.

DT445661

When a user runs the Chalk Pushcast Player, the volume is not maintained when moving from audio to video, video to audio, or video to video.

Impact: The volume changes when the content changes from audio to video, video to audio, or video to video.

Workaround: The user might need to adjust the volume.

DT113030

If the interval for a password prompt is shorter than the length of the video while playing an audio file or video on the Chalk Pushcast Player, users receive a password prompt that causes the device to lock.

Impact: Users might not be able to play audio or video on the Chalk Pushcast Player without an interruption.

Workaround: Perform one of the following actions:
  • To set the password prompt to appear at longer intervals, configure the Security Timer Reset option in the device:
    1. On the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Click Options.
    3. Click Applications
    4. Highlight Chalk Pushcast Player.
    5. Press the Menu key.
    6. Click Edit Permissions.
    7. Set the timeout value.
  • Administrators can turn on the "Allow Resetting Idle Timer" policy under the Security Policy group. This allows the Chalk Pushcast Player to reset the security timer to a longer interval than the length of the video.

DT109011

When users play an audio file in the Chalk Pushcast Player on a BlackBerry 8830 with BlackBerry® Device Software earlier than 4.5, the fast forward key does not work.

Impact: Users might not be able to use the fast forward key in the Chalk Pushcast Player.

Workaround: Upgrade the BlackBerry® Device Software to 4.5 or later.

DT105751

When using devices with BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 or earlier, there is no audio when users use a headset to hear audio for content in the Chalk Pushcast Player.

Impact: Users might not be able to hear audio while using headsets.

Workaround: Upgrade the BlackBerry Device Software to a version later than 4.2.2.
