Working with property keys and animation handles
You can use the property keys and animation handles to control animations that you create. You can create most of an animation on the canvas at the object level, but you can also use the Animation panel to make more refined changes to an animation. You can add, delete, and move property keys or animation handles to change the behavior of an animation at the following levels:
- Layer: A layer handle controls all child object handles and property keys that are located in the same frame. You can move a layer handle along a timeline to adjust all the property keys that are located in a specific frame for all objects on the same level.
- Object: An object handle controls all child property keys that are located in the same frame. You can move an object handle along the timeline to adjust all the property keys that are located in a specific frame for an object.
- Property: A property key controls a single property.
On the Animation panel, layer handles and object handles are down arrows and property keys are yellow keys.
When you animate a property, the property has multiple keys across the timeline. At minimum, you must specify a starting value and an end value at different points along the timeline to animate a property. A clock icon is displayed next to the property name to indicate that it was animated.
