Signing up for the Advertising Service

When you register for the Advertising Service, you must provide Research In Motion with information about your organization and the application that you want to display ads in.

To sign up for the Advertising Service, visit adservices.blackberry.com/register/. After you sign up for the Advertising Service and RIM approves the request, you will receive a copy of the Advertising Service SDK that you can use to integrate ads into your application and the unique ID parameter that is associated with your application.

If you have additional applications that you want to display ads in, you should seperately register each application so that you can receive a unique zone ID for each application. The zone ID parameter is used by the Advertising Service server to identify your application so that it can make informed decisions about the types of ads to send to your application.

Trial zone ID to use for evaluation

A unique zone ID allows the Advertising Service to maintain a reference to your application and accurately tracks ad performance metrics. You can use a zone ID to make strategic decisions about the type of content that is sent to your ads.

A trial zone ID is a free account that you can use to test the performance of a banner ad in your application. You do not need to register with Research In Motion to obtain a trial zone ID. Using a trial zone ID can help you decide whether to register for a unique zone ID to earn money from the ads in your application.

Once you decide to register for a unique zone ID, you must provide RIM with information about your organization and the application that you want to use to display ads.
