Setting up in the BlackBerry Java Development Environment

To setup your application in the BlackBerry Java Development Environment, perform the following tasks:
  1. Download and install the BlackBerry Java Development Environment at https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/java/download.
  2. Extract the files from the Advertising Service SDK to an appropriate location on your computer.
  3. Create a workspace.
  4. Create a BlackBerry application project.
  5. Add the Advertising Service library to your project.

Create a workspace

  1. In the BlackBerry Java Development Environment, on the File menu, click New Workspace.
  2. In the Workspace name field, type a name for the workspace.
  3. Click Browse and navigate to a location for the workspace.
  4. Click OK.

Create a project

You must create a separate project for each version of BlackBerry Device Software that your application runs on.

  1. In the BlackBerry Java Development Environment, on the Project menu, click Create New Project.
  2. In the Project name field, type a name for the project.
  3. Click OK.

Add the Advertising Service library to your project

  1. In the BlackBerry Java Development Environment, in the right pane, right-click a project and click Add File to Project.
  2. Navigate to the location that you extracted the Advertising Service SDK to and double-click the folder for the version of BlackBerry Device Software that your application is designed to run on (for example, double-click the 6.0 folder if the application runs on BlackBerry 6).
  3. In the Files of Type drop-down list, click All Files.
  4. Select the net_rim_bbapi_adv_app.jar file, and click Open to add the library file to the project.
