You can make one or all of the network connections available on BlackBerry® devices so that the BlackBerry® Pushcast™ Software can send content to devices and receive information from the devices. The network connections that you can make available depend on the connectivity options that you configure for a device, the IT policies that you sent to the device, and the BlackBerry® Device Software that is running on the device.

1. A BlackBerry Pushcast Player user installs the BlackBerry Pushcast Player on a device.
2. The BlackBerry Pushcast Software sends content to a BlackBerry Pushcast Player user using one of the following network connections:
   • BlackBerry Internet Service: The BlackBerry Pushcast Software can use the BlackBerry® Internet Service to send content to devices. The BlackBerry® Internet Service does not encrypt the content during transmission. The wireless network that the device uses provides access to the BlackBerry Internet Service to send content to devices. This is the default setting.
   • BlackBerry MDS Connection Service: The BlackBerry Pushcast Software can use the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service to send content to devices. The BlackBerry MDS Connection Service encrypts the content when it sends content to devices during transmission over the wireless network.
