Best practice: Creating content for the BlackBerry Pushcast Player
Best practice
|
Description
|
Select a font that is easy to read.
|
Consider the following guidelines:
- Use at least 29-point font for full-screen display.
- Use sans-serif fonts, such as Arial, Verdana, or Calibri.
- Use different font colors to emphasize words. Avoid bold text because it does not appear bold when the BlackBerry® Pushcast™ Plug-in
for Microsoft® PowerPoint®
converts the content.
- Use the preview feature to view how the screen appears in the BlackBerry Pushcast Player.
|
Avoid headers and footers where possible.
|
Consider the following guidelines:
- The BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft
PowerPoint
publishes all headers and footers automatically. You should only include headers and footers if you want BlackBerry Pushcast Player
users and BlackBerry Pushcast Desktop Player
users to view them.
- Avoid large headers and footers because they reduce the space that is available for other text. If you must use a header, combine the header with the slide title.
|
Extend text boxes to cover as much of the screen as possible.
|
Consider the following guidelines: - Avoid centering small sections of text that create large left margins and right margins.
- To maximize the screen size, do not use large margins.
|
Write about only one topic on each slide.
|
Consider the following guidelines:
- Write concisely.
- Insert a line break between text items.
- When you include audio on a slide, write text that outlines the ideas in the audio. Do not repeat the information that the audio provides.
|
Avoid blank spaces or placeholders on the slides.
|
The BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft
PowerPoint
publishes the entire Microsoft
PowerPoint
slide so that all blank spaces or placeholders appear in the published content.
|
Avoid hiding slides.
|
When you hide a slide in Microsoft
PowerPoint, the slide appears in the content when you publish it.
|
Include pictures where possible.
|
Consider the following guidelines:
- Use large pictures.
- Use bright colors where possible.
- Use cropping tools in Microsoft
PowerPoint
to focus on the subject matter.
- Make the text in a picture the same size as the text on the slide.
|
Include audio and video
where possible.
|
Consider the following guidelines:
- Use audio formats and video formats that the BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft
PowerPoint
supports.
- Use text to inform the user to watch a video and to click the video icon when a video is on a slide.
- Include only one audio file and one video file on each slide.
- Include audio files that are no larger than 4 MB.
- Include video files that are no larger than 100 MB.
- Use text or an image to draw attention to the video button that appears on the screen.
- Use the Insert Audio and Insert Video options on the BlackBerry® Pushcast™ menu to add audio or video files to the content.
- Use Microsoft® Sound Recorder to record audio.
|
Consider the screen resolution.
|
Use a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768.
|
Avoid slide transitions and animation effects.
|
The BlackBerry Pushcast Plug-in does not format transitions or animation effects in an acceptable format to play on a device.
