Configure the Microsoft DTC

To establish communication between the Microsoft IIS server and the Microsoft SQL Server, you must configure the Microsoft DTC when you install the BlackBerry Pushcast Software. In an environment that includes two servers, you must configure the Microsoft DTC on the server that you installed the BlackBerry Pushcast Software on and the server that you installed the database on.
  1. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, perform one of the following tasks:

    If you use Windows Server 2003, open the Microsoft DTC properties.

    1. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services.
    2. In the left pane, click Console Root > Component Services > Computers > My Computer.
    3. Right-click My Computer.
    4. Click Properties.
    5. On the MSDTC tab, click Security Configuration.

    If you use Windows Server 2008, open the Microsoft properties.

    1. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services.
    2. In the left pane, click Console Root > Computers > My Computer > Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
    3. Right-click Local DTC and click Properties.
    4. Select the Security tab.
  2. Verify that the Network DTC Access check box is selected.
  3. Verify that the Allow Remote Clients check box is selected.
  4. Verify that the Allow Inbound check box is selected.
  5. Verify that the Allow Outbound check box is selected.
  6. Verify that the No Authentication Required option is selected.
  7. Verify that the Enable XA Transactions check box is selected.
  8. In the DTC Logon Account section, make sure that the Account field includes the text NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Perfom one of the following tasks:

    Steps

    Select the Default Coordinator using Windows Server 2003.

    1. In the left pane, click Component Services > Computers > My Computer.
    2. Right-click My Computer and click Properties.
    3. On the MSDTC tab, click Security Configuration.
    4. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, in the Default Coordinator section, clear the Use local coordinator check box.
    5. On the database server, in the Default Coordinator section, select the Use local coordinator check box.

    Select the Default Coordinator using Windows Server 2008.

    1. In the left pane, click Component Services > Computers > My Computer > Distributed Transaction Coordinator Local DTC.
    2. Right-click My Computer and click Properties.
    3. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, in the Default Coordinator section, clear the Use local coordinator check box.
    4. On the database server, in the Default Coordinator section, select the Use local coordinator check box.
  11. On the BlackBerry Pushcast server, in the Remote host field, type the NetBIOS or domain name for the Microsoft SQL Server.
  12. Click OK.
