Overview
The Chalk™ Pushcast™ Software includes several components and applications that you can use to create, view, publish, and manage content, and send the content to BlackBerry® devices:
- Chalk Pushcast Console: you can use this component to manage content and the licensed channel
- Chalk Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft® PowerPoint®: you can use this component to create and send content to users
- Chalk Pushcast Player: you can use this component to view the content on devices
To create a licensed channel for the BlackBerry App World™ storefront, you add a subscription app to BlackBerry App World so that you can distribute content that you create to BlackBerry App World users who pay a fee to receive the content that you create. A subscription app is an application that you add to BlackBerry App World that users can purchase and download to a device so they can view the content that you create. You must create a licensed channel host which is a web site that you use to manage content and the licensed channel in the Chalk Pushcast Console.
To create a licensed channel host, you must submit a host creation request to the Chalk Pushcast Authoring Kit support team. You receive three email messages from no-reply@chalk.com during the process for creating a licensed channel host.
After you create content, you can publish a draft version of the content. The first time that you publish a draft, you receive an email message from no-reply@chalk.com to install the Chalk Pushcast Player on your device so that you can view the content on the device before you send it to licensed channel users. You must use the email address that you specified when you created the license channel host to view the content on your device.
After you create content in the Chalk Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint and are ready to send the content to users, you can submit a request in the Chalk Pushcast Console to the Chalk Pushcast Authoring Kit support team to create a subscription app for BlackBerry App World. When you receive the subscription app, you must log in to your vendor account in the vendor portal for BlackBerry App World to upload the subscription app. After you upload the subscription app to BlackBerry App World, licensed channel users receive the content that you published using the Chalk Pushcast Plug-in for Microsoft PowerPoint. You do not need to go to BlackBerry App World to publish content.
