Overview: BlackBerry Pushcast Software

The BlackBerry® Pushcast™ Software is an intuitive, user-friendly management system for mobile content that provides organizations with resources and tools that they can use to create, send, and manage content that contains interactive media to BlackBerry Pushcast Software users and groups. A BlackBerry Pushcast Software user is anyone who can access the BlackBerry Pushcast Software, regardless of the role that is assigned to the BlackBerry Pushcast Software user.

Using the BlackBerry Pushcast Software, you can create content and then deliver the content to the BlackBerry Pushcast Player on BlackBerry devices or to the BlackBerry Pushcast Desktop Player on users' computers. BlackBerry Pushcast Player users can view content online or offline on devices and BlackBerry Pushcast Desktop Player users can view content on computers when online. You can configure features so that you can view whether BlackBerry Pushcast Player users or BlackBerry Pushcast Desktop Player users completed content, the deadline that they must complete the content by, and the date when the content expires. You can also run reports to determine the status of the content (for example, whether BlackBerry Pushcast Desktop Player users or BlackBerry Pushcast Player users started or completed content).

The BlackBerry Pushcast Software implements several security features, such as RBAC, instance-level access control, roles and permissions, and SSL security. The BlackBerry Pushcast Software manages access to services and provides authentication and authorization within a single framework.

Using the BlackBerry Pushcast Software, you can control access to an organization's information. You can assign BlackBerry Pushcast Software users to roles and map features to the roles to control which operations BlackBerry Pushcast Software users can perform. BlackBerry Pushcast Software users can access only content that authors assign to them and perform the tasks that are specific to their role and permissions.

You can manage a BlackBerry Pushcast Software user and the user's status, permissions, content assignments and delivery, and content catalogues. You can also view, run, export, and print reports to view information, such as content enrollment status for users and groups and content delivery status for content that authors send to the BlackBerry Pushcast Player on devices.

You can access all of the features that are available to BlackBerry Pushcast Software users. In addition to the features available to authors, administrators have permission to perform the following tasks:
  • Create BlackBerry Pushcast Software user accounts, change the details for the user accounts, or delete existing user accounts
  • Create roles and groups and change or delete existing custom roles and groups
  • Assign groups to content
  • Assign groups to BlackBerry Pushcast Software users
  • Manage hosts

Only BlackBerry Pushcast Software users that are assigned to the Administrator role or Author role can create content using the BlackBerry Pushcast Software. When an author creates content, the BlackBerry Pushcast Software makes the author the owner of the content. Also, only authorized users can access and manage content using the BlackBerry Pushcast Software.
