Importing user accounts into the BlackBerry Pushcast Software

You can import user accounts from your organization into the BlackBerry® Pushcast™ Software using web services for the BlackBerry Pushcast Software and macros in the BlackBerry Pushcast Software User Account Import Template in Microsoft® Excel®. The BlackBerry Pushcast Software user account that you use to import users must have the administrator role and the Integration API role with permissions to make web service calls to import user accounts into the BlackBerry Pushcast Software and to manage all users and groups.

Visit www.blackberry.com to download the BlackBerry Pushcast Software User Account Import Template.

Sheet

Description

Groups for User Accounts

The macro automatically imports all user accounts into the Everyone Group. You can use the Groups for User Accounts sheet to add information for any groups that you would like to import user accounts to in the BlackBerry Pushcast Software. After you create a group, you must import the user to the GROUPID column, not the GROUPNAME column, in the GROUPID column in the User Account Information sheet.

User Account Information

You can use the User Account Information sheet to add information for user accounts, including first and last name, email address, user ID, user name, and password.

Configuration Information

You can use the Configuration Information sheet to configure the web service settings to create new user accounts and groups in the BlackBerry Pushcast Console. You must provide the web service URL and the administrator user name and password that you use to connect to the web service.

The ImportGroups macro and ImportUsers macro process data when there is data entered in the first cell of the first row in the Groups for User Accounts and User Account Information sheets. When the macros encounters five blank header columns in the first row in the Groups for User Accounts and User Account Information sheets, it completes the import process.

The macro appends the following information to the end of rows when processing the information for user account and group imports:

  • Cell 1: HTTP Status Code
  • Cell 2: URL for the host
  • Cell 3: XML string
  • Cell 4: XML parse errors
  • Cell 5: HTTP Response Text
  • Cell 6: HTTP Response Headers
