Managing security information files

Security information files contain certificates that the BlackBerry Mobile Voice System uses to authenticate and encrypt communication between the BlackBerry MVS components. The security information files must be the same for all BlackBerry MVS Server instances in a BlackBerry Domain.

The security information files are generated when the first BlackBerry MVS Server is installed. The default location for the security information files is <drive>:\Program Files\Research In Motion\MVS\Security Information. The security information files are named client.key, client.trust, server.key, and server.trust.

You should consider regenerating security information files as part of your organization's regular security practices. To do this, generate the security information files for one BlackBerry MVS Server and copy them to a shared folder. You then import the security information files to all other BlackBerry MVS Server host computers.

When copying security information files to additional BlackBerry MVS Server instances, do not copy them to their final location (for example, in the default case, do not copy them to \Program Files\Research In Motion\MVS\).
