Editing spreadsheets

Resize a row or column

  1. Tap a row or column header.
  2. Touch and hold the selected row or column header.
  3. When the device vibrates, do one of the following:
    • To resize a row, touch and hold The Drag Handle icon. Drag your finger up or down.
    • To resize a column, touch and hold The Drag Handle icon. Drag your finger left or right.

Hide or show rows and columns

You can hide an individual row or column, or you can hide a selection of multiple rows or columns.

  1. Tap a row or column header, and continue until all the rows or columns you want to hide or unhide are selected.
  2. Tap any part of the selection.
  3. Do any of the following:
    • To hide a row or column, tap The Hide icon.
    • To show a hidden row or column, tap The Show icon.

Freeze panes in a spreadsheet

With the freeze panes feature, you can freeze a row, column, cell, or group of cells in a spreadsheet.

  1. Touch and hold the items you want to freeze.
  2. Tap The Freeze icon.
After you finish:
Tip: To unfreeze a selection of frozen cells, touch and hold the frozen pane. Tap The Freeze iconagain.

Enable word wrap

  1. Tap a cell, row, or column.
  2. Tap Format.
  3. Tap Font.
  4. Tap Word Wrap.

Change the font or formatting

  • To change the font or formatting of text, tap The Format icon.
  • To change the number format in a cell, tap the cell. Tap The Cell Format icon.
After you finish:
Tip: You can edit the format of existing formulas by making changes to them in the text bar at the top of the screen.

Cut, copy, and paste a cell, row, or column

  1. Select a cell, row, or column.
  2. Tap the selected cell, row, or column.
  3. Tap The Cut icon or The Copy icon.
  4. Double-tap where you want to paste the item.
  5. Tap The Paste icon.

Find and replace text in a spreadsheet

  1. Tap The Edit icon.
  2. Tap The More icon.
  3. Tap The Find icon.
  4. Do any of the following:
    • In the Search field, type a value. On the keyboard, press Enter or tap Search.
    • In the Replace field, type a value. On the keyboard, press Enter or tap Replace.
  5. Tap The Next icon to go to the next instance of the value in the spreadsheet.

Add, view, edit, and delete comments in a spreadsheet

You can add notes to specific cells and review comments that others have made within a spreadsheet. Cells that contain comments have a red mark in the top corner of the cell.

  1. Tap a cell.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • To add a comment, touch and hold the cell. Tap The Add Comment icon. Type your comment. Tap Done.
    • To view a comment, tap The View Comment icon.
    • To edit a comment, touch and hold the cell. Tap The View Comment icon > The Edit icon. Make your changes. Tap Done.
    • To delete a comment, touch and hold the cell. Tap The View Comment icon > The Delete icon.

Clear the contents of a cell

  1. Tap a cell.
  2. Tap Clear Cell Contents.
