New in this release

The new features and enhancements for Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones version 4.2 include the following items:

Set cover and profile photos from your smartphone

You can set and update both your profile and cover photo from your profile page.

Added right-to-left language support

Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones added language support for Arabic and Hebrew.

Added Share feature

You can now share posts to your timeline, a friend's timeline, or with a group.

Added Unlike feature

You can now unlike a page that you had previously liked.

Enhanced photo loading

Improved photo loading performance when selecting a photo in News Feed.

Enhanced notifications

Notifications now display icons and new notifications are highlighted.

Fixed issues

This section lists fixed issues in Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones version 4.2.

General fixed issues

If the Facebook privacy lock is on, a minor could still see "Public" as a privacy option.

In some cases, the By option, which shows the user name, wasn't selectable.

The Back key does not always close the Add Comment dialog when on the photo full-view screen.

On some fan page photo albums, the Comment Count was off by "1" and some photos might have had duplicate comments.

In some cases, pictures selected in the News Feed took longer to load than expected.

In some cases, if you had BBM integration setup and tried to check in to a Nearby place, you couldn't scroll to the "What are you Doing field."

In some cases, there were problems with scrolling in the "Place" screen edit field.

In some cases, selecting the Enter key didn’t perform a search when searching for a location during check-in.

You might be unable to view all photos in an album when opening a photo from a News Feed post.

Some outgoing posts on the Notification screen were missing a profile image.

The photos loaded from News Feed weren't always properly scaled on Torch 9800 smartphone.

The Quick View Notification icon sometimes remained selected when trying to select something else.

In some cases, Event Cancellation notifications were not received.

In some instances, the option to view a page's profile in the BlackBerry menu was missing.

Events without a set time sometimes defaulted to a 3:00 am start time.

Certain notifications didn't display correctly if set to receive all notifications from a user.

Sometimes status messages of friends appeared in the Poke confirmation screen.

In some cases, the profile photo didn't display on outgoing "Unlike" posts.

The Fan Count sometimes displayed "0" on the Like screen.

The "Info" tab for fan pages was sometimes inaccessible on a Bold 9780 smartphone with GCXR9 software.

On the Info tab of a friend's profile of a Bold 9780 smartphone, the options might not have been selectable.

If you were idle on Chat for approximately 20 minutes, you might have received error 6010.7967543

Known issues

This section lists known issues for Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones version 4.2.

Translation issues

In some cases, if you are using your smartphone in Portuguese, Thai, Simplified Chinese, Cyrillic, Arabic or Hebrew some commands might not be translated correctly and some items and commands might not display correctly.

In some cases, if you are using your Facebook application with BBM, some commands might not be translated correctly and some items and commands might not display correctly.

General issues

If you are using BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 or 6.0, after downloading the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones app, the icon might no longer appear on the home screen.

After ignoring a friend request on the Facebook website on your computer, if you attempt to confirm the same friend request on your smartphone, you might receive a connection error.

Even though some game feeds are blocked, posts about them might still appear on your website.

If you are in the Nearby feature, scrolling might continue past the listed items.

The message, "Loading photo" might appear when opening a profile image.

Filtering searched places when checking in on Facebook might not work correctly.

A post associated with photos added to the News Feed might not show the correct time

When scrolling through comments in the News Feed, the Navigation focus might not be correct.

If you click a link in Places, the link might not open.

The incorrect full screen photo might load when selecting the profile image on the user profile.

Status updates might not display in the News Feed on some accounts.

If you are in a photo album and swipe left before all photo information loads, the photo might not load until to you swipe right and left again.

If you have a Facebook account with multiple email Id's, only one email might display.

When sharing a post with a group, the wrong group icon might display.

You might be unable to like or comment on posts shared on a friend's Timeline.

When entering a long comment for a post shared to a group, odd scrolling behavior might be observed.

You might be unable to share photos from News Feeds if a post contains multiple photos.
