Checking your voice mail from your BlackBerry device

You can view a list of your voice mail messages, play your voice mail messages, and change a variety of voice mail settings and options from your BlackBerry device, without having to call into your voice mail service. Your voice mail messages can be automatically downloaded to your device and you can pause, fast-forward, or rewind the voice mail message as you listen to it. You can also forward a voice mail message, send a reply to the person who left you a voice mail message, or delete a voice mail message from within the Phone app or the BlackBerry Hub.

Your service provider's voice mail system might automatically delete messages after a certain period of time. If you don't want a message to get automatically deleted, you can save it to your device.

You need to subscribe to this service in order to access the features. Contact your service provider to subscribe.

Listen to a voice mail message

  1. In the BlackBerry Hub or the Phone app, tap a voice mail message.
  2. Tap Play.

Forward a voice mail message

  1. In the BlackBerry Hub or the Phone app, touch and hold a voice mail message.
  2. Tap Forward.

Save a voice mail message

Your service provider's voice mail system might automatically delete messages after a certain period of time. If you don't want a message to get automatically deleted, you can save it to your device.
  1. In the BlackBerry Hub, or the Phone app, touch and hold a voice mail message.
  2. Tap Save.

Change your voice mail greeting

Your voice mail greeting is the outgoing message that a caller hears before leaving a voice mail message. Depending on your wireless service provider, this feature might not be supported.

  1. In the Phone app, swipe down from the top of the screen > tap Settings.
  2. Tap icon_bb10_phone_voicemail > Change Voice Mail Greeting.
  3. In the Greeting drop-down list, do one of the following:
    • To play your phone number as your voice mail greeting, tap Phone Number.
    • To play your name as your voice mail greeting, tap Name.
    • To record a custom voice mail greeting, tap Personal Message.

Change your voice mail password

Depending on your wireless service provider, this feature might not be supported.
  1. In the Phone app, swipe down from the top of the screen > tap Settings > Voice Mail.
  2. Tap Change Password.

Prevent voice mail messages from downloading while you are roaming

Depending on your wireless service provider, this feature might not be supported.
  1. In the Phone app, swipe down from the top of the screen > tap Settings > Voice Mail.
  2. Clear the International Roaming check box.

Deactivate voice mail on your device

If you deactivate voice mail on your device, you must contact your wireless service provider to reactivate it.
  1. In the Phone app, swipe down from the top of the screen > tap Settings.
  2. Tap Voice Mail > Deactivate.
