If you try to sign in to a BlackBerry ID-enabled application using the wrong BlackBerry ID password ten times, your account will be locked. This will also happen if you answer the security question associated with resetting your password incorrectly ten times. When this happens, you receive an error message advising you that your account will be locked for a period of 15 minutes. You can wait 15 minutes and try to sign in again, or you can just go ahead and reset your password.
Every time that you try to sign in with the wrong information, your account is locked for another 15 minutes, so if you are unsure of your password, it is probably better if you reset it.
If you have forgotten the answer to your security question, you can use a computer to have recovery instructions for your password sent to the email address that you use as your BlackBerry ID username. For security purposes, your password recovery email can be viewed only on a computer and it's not delivered to your BlackBerry device.
- From a computer, visit http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid.
- In the Already have a BlackBerry ID? section, click Reset your password.
- Complete the instructions on screen.
After completing the instructions, you will receive an email with instructions for resetting your password. Remember, this email can only be viewed from a computer and not from your device.
