I can't send and receive email
If you can't send and receive email, there are a few things that we can check and, hopefully, get you working with email.
Tip: When you troubleshoot issues with email setup, it is a good idea to have any information about related passwords, settings, or other account information on hand in case you need to consult it. You might also need to consult with your administrator or email service provider, so it is a good idea to have the contact information on hand, before you get started.
Are you connected to a wireless network?
To be able to send and receive email, you need to be connected to either a Wi-Fi network or a mobile network. If you are not in a Wi-Fi coverage area, but you don't want to connect to a mobile network, then you will have to wait until you return to a Wi-Fi coverage area before you can connect and start using email. If you think that you are in a wireless coverage area and you are trying to use a Wi-Fi network, let's make sure that you are connected.

- Look for the Wi-Fi indicator in the upper-right hand corner of the home screen. If you don't see the indicator, you will need to connect to Wi-Fi network.
If you see this indicator, it means that Wi-Fi functionality is turned on. If you can't see this indicator, you need to turn on Wi-Fi functionality.

- On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Tap the Wi-Fi icon to switch it from off to on.
- Tap Wi-Fi to see a list of available networks.
- Select and connect to an available network.

This is what the icon will look like when Wi-Fi functionality is turned on. Tap this icon to turn Wi-Fi functionality on or off.
Tap the label text when you want to see a listing of available networks.
Are you connected to a mobile network?
If you are using the mobile network rather than a Wi-Fi network, data services for your device must be turned on in order for you to use email successfully.

- Look for the mobile network connection indicator in the upper-right hand corner of the home screen. If you don't see the indicator, you will need to connect to a mobile network.
You should see this indicator if you are connected to the mobile network.

- On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Tap

- Tap Network Connections.
- Tap Mobile Network.
- Make sure the Mobile Network switch is set to On.
Make sure that this switch is set to On to enable a network profile.
Are data services turned on?
If you are connected to a mobile network, but data services are not turned on, you will not be able to send or receive email.

- Look for the data services indicator in the upper-right hand corner of the home screen. If you don't see the indicator, you will need to turn on data services.
If you see this indicator, it means that data services are turned on. If you can't see this indicator, you need to turn on data services.
+How to: Turn on data services
- On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Tap

- Tap Network Connections.
- Tap Mobile Network.
- Set the Data Services switch it to On.
- If you want data services to stay on even when you are roaming, in the Data services while roaming drop-down list, tap On. At a minimum, you might want to select Prompt, so that you can choose whether or not to keep data services turned on while roaming.
Make sure that this switch is set to On to enable mobile network functionality.
