Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones

New features and enhancements

The new features and enhancements for Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones version 4.0 include the following items:

Simplified Navigation Bar

The Navigation Bar is simpler, more consistent with Twitter's own navigation, and includes the following tabs: Home, Connect, Discover, Search and Me. Trends has become part of Discover Tab and Direct Messages and Lists have been moved under the Me Tab, which was previously known as My Profile.

Connect Tab with Interactions

Previously known as Mentions, the Connect Tab displays additional types of user interactions. Indicators were added to show when one of your tweets is Favorited, Retweeted or Replied To, and when you have a new Follower. You can switch between two views including all Interactions or Mentions only. Push notifications are supported for mentions and replies only.

Discover Tab with Trends, Who To Follow and Browse Categories

This is a completely new screen and includes these three components. Three trends are loaded and the user has the ability to View all trends on their own screen. Who To Follow is a completely new function showing three user suggestions and a button to view 20 more. Browse Categories, previously under Options | Welcome, is available as a button on Discover Tab and has been given a new look.

Me Tab with Direct Messages

Direct Message access is now found in the Messages bar under the Me Tab. Red splats appear on the Navatar and Messages icon to indicate new Direct Messages. If you have multiple accounts, red splats also indicate new information for the inactive accounts. Red splats will lead you to the new information and are cleared immediately when clicked, using a "bread crumb" approach, even when the message is not viewed. Access to Direct Messages from the unified inbox is not changed.

Attribution Tag Removal

You no longer see "via XYZ client" in tweets and retweets.
