Managing your BBM contacts

After you add some BBM contacts, you can organize them into categories or view details about a contact, including recent status messages and which applications your contacts have connected to BBM.

Organize your BBM contacts

If you want to be able to access certain contacts quickly, consider organizing your contacts into categories.

  1. Touch and hold a name.
  2. Tap Move Contact to Category.
  3. Tap a category, or tap Add Category to create a new category.
  4. To move additional contacts to the category, touch and hold the category name. Tap Move Contacts to Category.
After you finish: If you want to delete a category, you have to move contacts out of it first.

View someone's BBM profile

You can view contact details and previous status messages from someone's profile. You can also view and download the apps your contacts have connected to BBM. If you have a few contacts using similar names, you can rename them locally.

  1. Touch and hold a name.
  2. Tap View BBM Profile.
After you finish:

A purchase or subscription might be required from the BlackBerry World storefront before you can use some apps.

Hide updates for a particular contact or group

  1. Tap More tabs > Updates.
  2. Touch and hold a name.
  3. Tap Hide Updates.
After you finish: To see the updates again for that contact or group, in your BBM settings, remove the name from your blocked contacts.

View recent BBM activities

You can see a list of recent updates across your BBM contacts and groups and review any pending BBM or application invitations.

  1. Tap More tabs.
  2. Tap Updates or Invites.

Delete a BBM contact

  1. Touch and hold a name.
  2. Tap Delete.
  3. To prevent the person from being able to send you invitations in BBM, select the Block Future Invitations checkbox.
  4. Tap Delete.
