About switching smartphones

Depending on your wireless service provider, you might not be able to switch smartphones.

If you switch BlackBerry smartphones, the next time that you open the email setup application or access the BlackBerry Internet Service website using a browser on your smartphone, the BlackBerry Internet Service detects your new smartphone and prompts you to type the password for each of your email addresses. After you type your password, you can start receiving email messages on your new smartphone.

If you switch to a smartphone that has BlackBerry 7 installed on it, the smartphone prompts you to type your BlackBerry ID to set up your smartphone. After you type your BlackBerry ID, you can start receiving email messages on your new smartphone.

If you want to use a BlackBerry email address, you can only switch to a BlackBerry smartphone. BlackBerry enabled smartphones do not support BlackBerry email addresses.
