Preparing to sell your smartphone or give your smartphone to another person

Before you sell your BlackBerry smartphone or give your smartphone to another person, you must delete all device data. For more information about deleting device data, click the Help icon on the home screen of your smartphone.

You must also delete your BlackBerry Internet Service account or associate it with your new smartphone.

Consider the following guidelines when associating your BlackBerry Internet Service account with your new smartphone:

• If your smartphone uses a SIM card and you want to use your SIM card in a new BlackBerry smartphone, insert the SIM card into your new smartphone, open the email setup application, and complete the instructions on the screen to associate your BlackBerry Internet Service account with your new smartphone.
• If your smartphone uses a SIM card and you plan to give the SIM card to the new owner, your wireless service provider must delete your BlackBerry Internet Service account or associate your account with a new smartphone. Contact your wireless service provider.
• If your smartphone does not use a SIM card, your wireless service provider must delete your BlackBerry Internet Service account or associate your account with a new smartphone. Contact your wireless service provider.
