Register an email address with BBM

When you register an email address with BlackBerry Messenger, BBM backs up changes to your contacts, profile, and group membership over the wireless network to a BBM server that is operated by or on behalf of Research In Motion or its affiliates.

Depending on your wireless service plan or organization, this feature might not be supported.

Before you begin: To perform this task, you must have an email address that is associated with your BlackBerry smartphone.
  1. On the contact list screen, press the Image of Menu key key > Options > Back Up > Back up files remotely.
    • Click Register.
    • Highlight an unregistered email address. Press the Image of Menu key key > Edit Email Status > Register.
  2. Click OK.
After you finish: To view the status of the registration for the email address, repeat step 1.
