My contacts are not appearing in BlackBerry Messenger

Your BlackBerry® Messenger contacts might not appear on the contact list screen if, for example, you switched BlackBerry devices or if you updated your BlackBerry® Device Software without backing up and restoring your device data.

If you saved a backup file of your contact list to your device, on a media card, or to your computer using the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager, you can restore your contact list using that backup file. Depending on your organization, if you previously associated an email address with a device on which the latest version of BlackBerry Messenger was installed, you might be able to restore your contact list over the wireless network. Research In Motion recommends that you regularly create and save a backup file on your computer, especially before you update any software. Maintaining an up-to-date backup file on your computer might allow you to recover device data if your device is lost, stolen, or corrupted by an unforeseen issue.
