Convert an object to a bitmap image

The shapes and text that you create in Plazmic® Composer are vector graphics; that is, they are composed of paths in which the anchor points and curve control points are the only data used to define the exact shape and position of the path, rather than by defining the content of each pixel as a bitmap image does.

You can convert a vector graphic object to a bitmap image by rasterizing it. Once you rasterize an object, you can no longer modify properties such as the stroke or fill values, but you can apply a number of bitmap effects such as a bevel, that cannot be applied to a vector graphic.

On export, the Plazmic Composer converts text objects that use non-BlackBerry® device system fonts into bitmap images.

  1. On the workspace, select an object.
  2. Click Object > Rasterize.
