You can test GPS applications using the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator. A GPS application on the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator can access GPS data such as the direction, the speed, and the number of visible satellites (satellites provide GPS information). The GPS feature in the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator should function the same as when the GPS application runs on a BlackBerry smartphone.

The current simulated location determines the number of satellites that are visible. When you create a new location, the value you specify in the Visible satellites field becomes the default value for that field. Most locations are visible to four satellites or more.
