Configuring the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator
Settings for the BlackBerry® Smartphone Simulator are associated with a launch configuration. Each launch configuration is associated with a set of projects and a
specific version of the BlackBerry®
Device Software.
Specify configuration settings for the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator
- In Eclipse®, on the Run menu, click Debug Configurations or Run Configurations.
- Expand the BlackBerry Simulator item.
- Perform one of the following tasks:
- To work with an existing launch configuration, under BlackBerry Simulator, click a launch configuration.
- To work with a new launch configuration, right-click BlackBerry Simulator, and click New.
- Click the Simulator tab.
- Click the General tab.

Select this option to have all options use the default value.
In the Specify the number of seconds to wait before the automated response is selected field, type the number of seconds that you want the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator

Specify the PIN of the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator.

ESN
|
Specify the Electronic Serial Number of the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator. If unspecified, the number is generated from the PIN.

MEID
|
Specify the 14-digit hexadecimal CDMA Mobile Equipment Identifier of the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator.

Enable device security
|
Specify that the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator simulates a secure connection.
|
System locale
|
Specify the locale of the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator.
|
Keypad locale
|
Specify the locale of the keyboard on the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator. The default value is en.

Specify a BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator that is installed outside of the Eclipse
environment
You can download and install a BlackBerry® Smartphone Simulator that is compatible with the BlackBerry
JRE™
of your BlackBerry
application project outside of the Eclipse®
IDE and use it in the BlackBerry® Java® Plug-in
for Eclipse®. To download a BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator
installation file, visit www.blackberry.com/developers/resources.
- On the Run menu, click Run Configurations or Debug Configurations.
- Click the configuration that you want to use, or create a new configuration.
- Click the Simulator Tab.
- In the Device drop-down list, click a BlackBerry
device from the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator set
that you installed.
- Click Run or Debug.
Run a
BlackBerry device application
in the
BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator
The
BlackBerry® Smartphone Simulator
displays icons on the Home Screen or in the Downloads folder for all
BlackBerry device applications that are
installed. When you select an icon, the name of the application appears at the
bottom of the
BlackBerry device screen.

Package Explorer view, right-click a project.

Click Run As > BlackBerry
Simulator.

In the
BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator, click the application icon.
