The <status> element is included in a Requested-PIN <subscriptionquery-message> element that the content provider sends to the BlackBerry® Infrastructure. The content provider specifies a status, and in response gets a message containing the PINs of all BlackBerry devices with that status on the subscriber list.

This element is an extension that is specific to RIM and is not included in the PAP standard.
