The BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System 4.6 can work with several versions of the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. If the BlackBerry MVS supports the version that you want to upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to, you can use one of the following upgrade processes:

• in-place upgrade process
• cutover process that upgrades a BlackBerry Configuration Database
• cutover process that creates a BlackBerry Configuration Database

If you use the in-place upgrade process, the BlackBerry MVS is not available to BlackBerry device users during the upgrade process. When the in-place upgrade process is complete, the BlackBerry MVS resumes automatically.
