Before you begin: Verify that you installed the client components of the Microsoft® SQL Server® on the computer.

On the computer that you want to install a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server on, click Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Expand SQL Native Client Configuration.
Right-click Aliases. Click New Alias.
In the Alias Name field, type the database server name.
In the Port No field, type the static port number.
In the Protocol drop-down list, click TCP/IP.
In the Server field, type the database server name.
Click OK.
